Rainer has over 40 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry and as a venture capital investor. His assignments have been spanning drug discovery and development in large and small companies, as well as R&D and general management roles.
Before joining Worg Rainer has been the CEO of Biomay for almost a decade where he developed Worg’s allergy products to proof of concept. In parallel he was the CEO of Viravaxx AG, a company developing vaccines and diagnostics for virus infections. His previous roles had been CEO of Fibrex Medical Inc., Partner at the venture funds Brilleon Capital and Future Capital, Managing Director R&D of Nippon Hoechst Marion Roussel and Deputy Head and Group Leader of Cardiovascular Research at Hoechst AG in Frankfurt, Germany.
Rainer is the inventor of 2 marketed antihypertensives and worked on the discovery development of numerous clinical and pre-clinical compounds. He is the named inventor of 69 patent families, and the author of 49 manuscripts in peer reviewed journals.
Rainer has a PhD in Organic Chemistry form Justus-Liebig-University in Giessen, Germany and received post-doctoral training at Colorado State University, Ft. Collins, CO, USA.
